Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Vikaidu collects, why, who receives it, and how you can delete it. We keep it short because we collect little.
Who is responsible
Vikaidu, based in the United States, is the controller of your data. Contact: support@vikaidu.com.
What we store about you
When you sign in with Google and use Vikaidu, our servers store:
- your Google email address and name;
- your native (help) language;
- your plan and entitlement history, including whether Pro is on and until when;
- payment identifiers from PayPal, such as subscription and transaction ids, amounts, fees and dates (not your card number);
- usage counts for features that have limits, such as AI requests;
- if you take TOEIC mock tests on the Pro plan, the answers you choose, the time you start and finish, and your estimated scores for each attempt. We show them back to you in your test history, and they are deleted with your account.
What stays on your device
Your saved words, review progress, daily goal and settings are stored in your browser's extension storage on your device. In this version they are not uploaded to our servers.
Subtitle text sent to translation providers
When a video has no translation from YouTube or Netflix and you use AI translation or an AI feature, the subtitle text, word or sentence you asked about is sent through our servers to our AI providers, Ollama Cloud and Groq, to produce the translation or answer. We send only what is needed for the request and do not send your email or name with it.
Those providers process the text under their own terms and privacy policies.
Payments
Payments are handled by PayPal. We never see or store your card details. PayPal gives us the identifiers and amounts needed to activate, renew, refund and account for your subscription.
Cookies
We use one session cookie to keep you signed in on vikaidu.com. Cookies that come with ads and with Google's consent message are described in the next section.
If you allow it, we use Google Analytics for Firebase to count visits to vikaidu.com and see which pages are used. It sets cookies named _ga on vikaidu.com and sends Google the pages you open, your browser and device type, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. We do not send your name or email with it, and we turn off Google's advertising features for it. If you say no, Analytics is not loaded at all. You give or withdraw that permission in Google's privacy message where it is shown, and with "Analytics settings" at the bottom of every page where our own notice is shown (Pro members and visitors for whom Google's message does not load). Turning it off removes those cookies.
Advertising and Google's consent message
Vikaidu is free to use. Visitors who are signed out or on the free plan see ads from Google AdSense on the exercise catalog, topic and lesson pages, away from the exercise. Pro members never load the ad script or Google's consent message.
Google and its partners may set cookies and read identifiers on your device to show and measure ads. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's certified consent message (Privacy & messaging) asks you first, and you can limit ads to non-personalized ones. The same message decides whether we may count your visit with Analytics. Google's own policies describe how it uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can manage ad personalization at adssettings.google.com.
We do not give Google your name, email or account details for ads.
YouTube videos
Lessons play videos with YouTube's embedded player. When a lesson loads, YouTube (Google) can receive your IP address and set cookies on your device, under Google's privacy policy. We do not control that data.
Leaderboard names
The "Top users" page is public. You appear on it only if you turn on "Show me on the leaderboard" in your account and choose a display name. That name and your practice time for the last 7 days are then visible to anyone. You can change the name or turn it off at any time, and you then disappear from the page. Everything else about your practice progress stays private to you.
We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal data. Ads are served by Google AdSense as described above. We share your data with the providers needed to run the service (Google for sign-in and, if you allow it, for counting visits; PayPal for payments; Ollama Cloud and Groq for AI translation; and our hosting provider) or when the law requires.
How long we keep data
We keep your account data while your account exists. After you delete your account we remove it, except payment records we must keep for accounting and legal reasons.
Deleting your data and your rights
You can ask us to delete your account and data, or to give you a copy of it, by emailing support@vikaidu.com from the address you signed in with. We aim to reply within 30 days. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to correct your data or object to its use; use the same address.
Children
Vikaidu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way we will say so in the product or by email. The date at the top shows the latest version.
